2020 the start of a new exciting decade for the Club

12 Jan 2020

Generously sponsored and created by renowned artist Ben Juniper the Club now sports a refurbished weather vane. Instigated by Club Captain Ron Ansett and Ben Juniper, the weather vane will be part of an overall idea to create varying focus points at the club.

By March we will see the installation of a new synthetic sand filled green, in large funded by the Cambridge Town Council. This is the latest in Greens technology and could be just the right thing to encourage a new influx of bowling members. We are looking at all ways of finding future funding for appropriate shades to make the Bowling area summer friendly. Our Bowling Greens over the years have been a big draw card for social bowling as well as competition bowls and is one of the clubs best asset

An important part of 2020 development is to see the installation of an “accessible bathroom”. An area within the club has been set aside and costing’s have been established to start the ball rolling. The TOC will be providing much of the financial support. The Club is currently working with the Town on a grant to assist with funds.

Funding through Stronger Communities will see the Petanque area with a new perimeter wall erected and this area tidied up.

Assisting our volunteers in gardening and bowling green upkeep we will be purchasing a new leaf blower through the support of the Stronger Communities grant.

Due to the popularity the Club will be holding another Christmas in July – please speak to Bar Manager Peter Hill if you would like to book a table! Get in early!!!

Finally the club hopes to secure another large corporate event in December, on our fantastic recreation green. If successful this would be the third such event and provides the club with a great boost to its operating revenue.

Any new year provides an opportunity to reflect on the previous year and our achievements. We continue to build on our achievements.
