Lake Monger Recreation Club, proud home of the Lake Monger Monsters Bowling Team, hosted its much-anticipated annual awards lunch on Sunday, 18th May 2025. Set against a backdrop of perfect autumn sunshine, the day was filled with camaraderie, laughter, and a wonderful turnout of club bowlers and their partners. The atmosphere was lively and festive as members gathered to celebrate another fantastic year of competition and community spirit.
The awards covered five key categories of club competition, recognising outstanding performances across the board.
The first award of the day was the Novice Trophy, presented to Helen Donovan, who made history as the first female winner in a mixed-gender competition. A well-deserved win and a milestone moment for the club.
The Club Fours title was awarded to a formidable team made up of Peter Hill, James Spencer, Gavin Powell, and Adam Barnes, who impressed everyone with their teamwork and skill—especially notable as it was Adam’s first year playing with the club.
In the Club Triples, the dynamic trio of Nathan Walker, Eddie Osborne, and Ron Ansett took out the win, demonstrating consistency and strong synergy throughout the season.
The Club Pairs award went to brothers Greg and Brett Parker, showcasing a well-practised partnership and a deep understanding of each other’s play styles.
In the Club Singles Championship, Greg Parker once again proved to be a standout competitor, securing the title for the fifth time. His dedication and ongoing commitment to honing his craft are truly a testament to the old saying—practice does make perfect.
A Special Award was also presented to Peter Baggio, Barrie Parker, and Max Andrews for achieving the highest aggregate win in club results. Their collective effort over the season played a significant role in the club’s overall success.
Congratulations to all our award winners and heartfelt thanks to everyone who joined us to celebrate. It’s days like these that remind us why we love the game and the great community around it.
