Construction of the new Cambridge Community Shed (CCS) began on 28 August 2020 and is predicated to be completed around end February 2021. Lake Monger Recreation Club are excited with the developments and continue to offer our premises for CCS Community Meetings and building a broader community hub for the area.
Prior to the opening of the Shed, “Shed without a Shed” meetings are being held every second Wednesday at Lake Monger Recreation Club at 10 am. To date there has been wonderful supportive social interaction between the members of both our organisations’ as well as providing excellent opportunities to share knowledge and skills and building friendships. We look forward to this strengthening over time. It is anticipated the Cambridge Community Shed will be open in early March 2020. When the shed is completed, the following vocational activities will be available:
- Providing a meeting place for social interaction
- Conducting health programs, particularly mental health
- Woodworking
- Welding and spray painting
- Pottery
- Cooking Classes
- Information technology for members and visitors
- Making children’s toys and other crafts for donation to others
- providing support to local primary schools and other community groups
- Making a contribution to the community
